Cross River PDP strategizes ahead of 2027

Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP have commenced moves to reposition the party ahead of the next general elections in the state.

The stakeholders, drawn from the eighteen local government areas of the state converged in Calabar to deliberate on the future of tbe party.

They comprised state party chairman Venatius Ikem, leader of the party in the state Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, immediate past gubernatorial candidate Professor Sandy Onor, former deputy governor Efiok Cobham and many others.

State Chairman of the party Venatius Ikem in his speech said “it’s important the party learns from its mistakes and puts its best foot forward.

“The party went into the last gubernatorial elections with a divided house for multiple reasons and they took their victory over the years for granted.

“We need to talk with each other, reason with each other, look beyond personal interest and work for our party.

“Despite loosing, our party is still very strong in the grassroots and with the force of thr people they will bounce back”, he said.

Also speaking, the leader of the party in the state and Senator representing Cross River North, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe said the party made a mistake which allowed the APC take over and the APC is also not immune to mistakes.

He thanked his party men for staying with the party without appointment and pecuniary benefits, stressing that it shows they are resilient, determined and have a future to loom up to.

In his remarks, Professor Sandy Onor said the PDP remains a great party and the leading light for Cross River State.

He said he feels the warmth and resilience of party members and assured them the future will be greater than yesterday.
