In a recent press briefing on Monday at the Nasarawa State Police Command Headquarters, Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Shettima Jauro Muhammed, unveiled significant achievements in the fight against crime within the state. The comprehensive update highlighted numerous arrests and crucial recoveries made by the police, underscoring their commitment to ensuring a safer community.
Among the accomplishments shared were the arrest of suspects involved in various criminal activities, as well as the recovery of firearms and ammunition. The briefing revealed detailed incidents and ongoing investigations, illustrating the dedication of law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice.
One such case involved the arrest of individuals connected to a tragic incident of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. Hassan Ismail and Mohammed Sani were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the wrongful restraint and subsequent death of Mohammed Sani ‘M’ in Agyaragu Tofa, exposing a harrowing act of alleged witchcraft accusations.
Another significant operation led to the interception of armed individuals along Adudu-Azara road, resulting in the recovery of an AK 47 rifle and live ammunition from suspects Omiya Ijimi, Mable Ijimi, and others from Ibuan village of Obi LGA. Investigations into this concerning discovery are underway at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia.
The commissioner also highlighted instances of sexual assault, including the arrest of Habu Yusuf, a 21-year-old man from Nasarawa Eggon, who was accused of sexually molesting a 5-year-old girl and two other children, aged 8 and 10. His apprehension shed light on the alarming issue of sexual abuse within the community.
Additionally, the Nasarawa State Police Command revealed successful operations thwarting armed robbery attempts and kidnapping incidents. The collaborative efforts between law enforcement and local communities resulted in the arrest of individuals involved in criminal activities such as armed robbery and kidnapping, preventing further harm and recovering stolen items.
Cp Jauro further stressed that the dedication of the police to swiftly respond to distress calls and diligently investigate reported incidents was evident to the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents in Nasarawa State were reiterated, with assurances that all suspects, upon conclusion of investigations, will be prosecuted according to the law.
