Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) has declared that it would continue to carry out people-oriented projects.

National President of COWA, Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi, stated this during the commissioning of Onne Area 2 Command, secretariat, canteen and unisex saloon, as well as donation of food items to widows of the command.

 

She said the measure was part of efforts to improve on welfare of officers at the Port Harcourt Area 2 Command, Onne Rivers State.

The National President of the association advised officers on desgnated ranks to encourage their spouses to join and participate in COWA activities.

According to Adeniyi, the benefits were enormous as the association since inception, continued to embark on projects that have tangibly impacted humanity.

The president commended the Onne command for the collaboration which she said had enabled COWA activities to thrive.

 

She expressed: “I am happy with all the programmes and projects that you have undertaken. These programmes are in line with the objectives of COWA which are geared toward improved welfare of members and the public.”

Earlier, Mrs. Yakaka Imam, wife of the Onne Commandant and host at the event, thanked the president and her team for the visit and pledged the chapter’s support for the ideal of the union.

Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries had commended COWA for the gesture.

One of them, Mrs. Joan Ogba, noted that cash gifts, bags of rice and other consumables formed part of items distributed to widows.
