With the clock beginning to run today, the one question on the lips of fashionistas and other fashion-forward ladies is focused on what will rule the world of style this year.
Fashionistas need not fret much because the Creative Director of Ade Bakare Couture London has a ready answer for them.
“In 2023 will see a lot of feminine looks because fashion is becoming more elegant and purposeful. People are moving away from the lounge comfort look that had taken hold of fashion for years.
“With the passing of the restrictions imposed in the wake of COVID-19 lifted, there is a sense of fun in the air, as parties, celebrations and luxury affairs hold. We will see a lot of dresses in all forms – slip on dresses, tube dresses, all very sexy but with lots of shimmer.
He adds that dresses made with shimmering sequin fabrics or beading will take centre stage. It will all be about the red carpet and fashionistas trying to project looks to say, ‘look at me, I am fabulous.’
Bakare says further: “We see a lot of jewel tones in ruby reds, purples, marine blue and emerald green, which was fashionable this year and still goes on strong. Intricate laces and soft tulle details are very much evident to trend.
For Chief Executive Officer of Ginani Fashion Academy, Eunice Oghinan-Dawodu, the colour trends for 2023 will be richer hues, and tend towards more natural colours.
“Rich shades of purple will be in the forefront. We will be seeing a lot of tassels and fringes. Laser cut fabrics, intricate detailing, use of lace and emphasis of the body form with designs based on swimwear. Also, a lot of sheer fabrics will trend, plenty of jackets too. And there will be drama just like the past year.
