Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has called for a total rededication to God’s commandments among residents as they celebrate Christmas.
In a statement on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike emphasised the importance of obedience to divine laws, reflecting on the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose birth is commemorated during this festive season.
“Since Jesus Christ, whose birth is the reason for the celebration of Christmas, obeyed the commandments of God, Christians must also keep these commandments,” Wike stated. He urged residents to show love to one another and inspire others to do the same, reinforcing the spirit of community and compassion.
Wike expressed his confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating: “With this agenda, things will keep getting better.” He extended his warm wishes to all FCT residents, saying: “I congratulate you for the grace of celebrating another Christmas. It is my prayer that we all celebrate many more Christmases in good health.”
In a somber note, he offered condolences to families affected by recent stampedes in Abuja, praying for their strength during this difficult time. “I sympathise with families of victims and pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear their loss,” he added.
Wike concluded by urging Christians to use this season as an opportunity for rededication to God and service to humanity. “Let us be obedient to God’s commandments as Jesus taught us,” he urged, highlighting the perpetual obligation of believers to uphold divine laws.
