Orphanages have lamented declining support for children in different homes due to economic hardship in the country.
This was made known in Ibadan, when a non-governmental organisation, Grateful Giving NGO, brought smiles to the faces of motherless children, orphans in two homes in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The Grateful Giving NGO, donated items including bags of rice, cornflakes, cartons of noodles, custard, beverages, milk, Golden Morn, as well as packs of spaghetti to the homes in celebration of this year’s Christmas. The items were shared equally among the two homes. The homes that benefitted from the gesture are Tabitha Orphanage Home, and the Dorcas Adunnola Oyediji Home.
Mr Abiodun Awodipe, the representative of the Grateful Giving NGO, urged the children and staff of the homes to cultivate an attitude of gratitude for God’s provisions. He revealed that the organisation spent millions of naira on the donations alone. He added that the organisation has plans to expand its activities to the educational sector by offering scholarships to deserving children. “For the past five years, Grateful Giving NGO has been consistently supporting the motherless homes and orphanages with food donations,” Awodipe said.
The founder and Executive Director, Tabitha Home, Febisola Okonkwo, and the Home Administrator of Dorcas Adunnola Oyediji Home, Onyedikachi Denton, as well as Grace Okpala, the Home Administrator of Tabitha Home, who noted that donors have not been coming to the homes to donate to the children, thanked the Grateful Giving NGO, for the gesture.
