The Christmas season brought a wave of joy to over 200 widows and underprivileged individuals in the Adada Development Centre of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Enugu State. Thanks to the generosity of a philanthropist and businessman, Chinedu Okoro, popularly known as Larry Popo.

Popo, a former banker, hosted a heartwarming Christmas outreach programme at his country home in Uvuru, Enugu. He distributed bags of rice, wrappers and cash gifts to families struggling to cope with the current economic challenges.

He said: “My heart goes out to families who are finding it hard to survive the tough economic realities of our country. This is my little way of helping, ensuring that no one feels left out during the festive season.

“People are struggling daily to make ends meet, and many families can barely afford three square meals these days. I deliberately chose widows, whom I describe as ‘super women’ for their resilience, along with other underprivileged individuals, to share in the joy of the season.”

The beneficiaries, many of whom were overwhelmed with emotion, expressed their gratitude for the unexpected act of kindness.

“I’ve never experienced anything like this before,” exclaimed Mrs. Chizor, a widow and mother of three. “This is a blessing to us, especially as we celebrate Christmas.”

Popo’s gesture served as a powerful reminder of the importance of community and the impact of individual acts of kindness during the festive season and beyond.
