As Nigeria marks Children’s Day, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of children, describing them as the most sacred trust and the bedrock of the nation’s future.
In a message commemorating the 2025 Children’s Day celebration, themed “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” Governor Fintiri emphasised that children must be placed at the forefront of developmental efforts, with policies, programmes, and projects tailored to ensure their protection from harm, neglect, and exploitation.
“As we celebrate Children’s Day, I am reminded of the profound words that emphasise the importance of prioritising our children. They are our most sacred trust, holding the key to our future. Their ideas, resourcefulness, and values will shape the character and culture of our great nation,” the Governor stated.
He noted that his administration has made deliberate efforts to foster a secure and loving environment where children can enjoy their childhood and realise their full potential. Key among these efforts, he said, is the adoption of the Child Rights Act and prioritisation of education and child welfare initiatives.
Governor Fintiri also called on all stakeholders—including parents, guardians, educators, community leaders, and civil society groups—to unite in creating nurturing spaces where children are empowered to grow into responsible and impactful adults.
“On this special day, I urge all stakeholders to join hands in creating a nurturing environment that allows our children to thrive. Let us work together to protect their rights, promote their welfare, and empower them to become the leaders of tomorrow,” he urged.
He concluded with a heartfelt message to the children of Adamawa State, wishing them a future filled with hope and fulfilment. “Happy Children’s Day to all the children of Adamawa State. May your future be bright, and may your dreams be fulfilled.”
The Children’s Day celebration, observed annually on Tuesday, May 27, serves as a reminder of the crucial need to protect and uplift the nation’s youngest citizens.
