According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea is willing to sell Austrian-born Nigerian midfielder, Carney Chukwuemeka in the winter transfer market amid interest from Premier League rival, Ipswich Town.
The Aston Villa academy product has become surplus to requirements at Chelsea, having failed to start a game since the start of the season and has made three appearances across all competitions, with none being the Premier League.
The Blues are said to be interested in signing another central defender and are ready to part ways with Chukwuemeka to fund a move for one.
Having reportedly placed a £40m valuation on him in the summer, the Stamford Bridge outfit is now said to be ready to accept a lower offer to fast-track his exit, and that could be a boost for Ipswich Town, who is one of his suitors.
Kieran McKenna’s side picked up its first victory of the campaign against Tottenham Hotspur but still within the reach of a relegation spot as it sit 17th in the standings with eight points, just one better than 18th-placed Crystal Palace.
The team could make do with the injection of more quality in the squad in the January transfer window, and a move for Chukwuemeka could boost their relegation survival.
Ipswich signed Omari Hutchison from Chelsea in the summer and would be hoping to use the existing relationship to help them secure a move for the talented midfielder who is also on the radar of AC Milan.
