Premier League rich-London club, Chelsea is advancing well in talks with Napoli to sign Super Eagles ace, Victor Osimhen for a €60m fee plus €10m in add-ons, including Romelu Lukaku as part of the deal.
The offer includes a 5-year contract worth £10m per year, valid until June 2029, with 100% of the image rights going to the Nigerian goal poacher.
Lukaku’s arrival might not be entirely independent of the Nigeria’s departure. Moreover, Osimhen does not seem inclined to consider saying yes to Chelsea, as, for now, he only sees a transfer to PSG in his future.
Chelsea’s technical staff has approved a move for Victor Osimhen, according to reports. Further updates are expected within the next 48 hours.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna will continue meetings in London, but it’s possible that to finalise the transfer of the Belgian, Napoli might need to tap into the financial resources that could come from Osimhen’s sale.
Osimhen has been the subject of interest from PSG as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia. He scored 26 goals in 32 league games to help Napoli win Serie A two seasons ago and signed a new deal with a release clause of about £101m, but the club now appear open to his sale.
“Victor Osimhen has asked to leave the club,” Manna said. “He wants to go. The situation is clear, there were already chances for his exit last summer. Victor wants to leave. We will see.”
Napoli, who shelled out a hefty sum north of £65m for Osimhen back in 2020 from Lille, stand to fill their coffers by selling the Nigerian this summer. The 25-year-old fired Napoli to the Serie A title during the 2022/23 season, scoring 26 goals in 32 games.
