Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Northern Nigeria and Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has urged Christians to remain united and pray for a leader that would unite the country.
He tasked Christians to elect credible and competent leaders that would tackle the challenges confronting the country.
“We need a leader who will fight for the unity of this country because without our unity we cannot do anything. We can see that the next election wants to divide the country along religion, ethnicity and other aspects of life, but we need somebody who will forge ahead with the unity of this country,” he said.
The spoke at a dinner and launch of a magazine in his honour by Joint Gospel Arts and Music Award (JOGAMA).
“Christians must remain prayerful knowing that the solution to the challenges that citizens are facing lies in God’s hands. This is because politicians will come and go, traditional rulers remain our fathers but the solution makers are those who speak to God, who plead for mercy, who also use their platforms to preach peace among different ethnic nationalities and different religions in Nigeria and we must vote wisely.”
He prayed that God endorses a leader who has the interest of the poor masses and the minority at heart “because a leader who fights for the minority is a true representative of the people.”
