From Okwe Obi, Abuja
A chieftain of Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Sylvestre Tchakoutio, has encouraged Cameroonians living in Nigeria to register ahead of the country’s presidential election in 2025.
Tchakoutio told journalists on Friday in Abuja that it was time for Cameroonians to vote out President Paul Biya, who has been in power for 42 years without any meaningful development.
He claimed that even the roads built by President Ahmadou Ahidjo, had become impassable because of the negligence of President Biya.
According to him, eligible Cameroonian voters should visit any consulate in Nigeria with a valid identity card to register ahead of the contest.
He said if elected, his party would entrench democracy and build strong and lasting bilateral relations with neighbouring countries.
“This is a call to all Cameronians living in Nigeria to register to vote ahead of the 2025 general elections in Cameroon.
“The registration will demand a valid Cameroonian identity card or international passport or an I.D of a company they are working. They should register to vote.
“The situation in Cameroon is worse. After 42 years in power, we have come to vote the right person to lead the country and to build a better relationship with other neighbouring countries.
“We want to remove President Paul Biya because he has not done well. The roads are bad. We do not have electricity.
“If we are elected we will entrench a real democracy in Cameroon. To visit Nigeria will not be much of a problem because we will build a better relationship with Nigeria and beyond.”
