I write to call on the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Dauda A Biu, to check the menace posed by officers of the commission on the road leading to Costain, in front of its Iporin office in Surulere, Lagos State.
With the closure of Eko Bridge at Alaka end, all traffic to the Island is via the service lane to Costain Roundabout to connect back to Eko Bridge, leading to congestion.
Instead of helping to manage the heavy traffic, FRSC officers compound the congestion by blocking half of the road with their van and standing in the middle of the road to harass people going to work for vehicle and document inspection as early as 6:00 a.m. daily. They end up forcing motorists into their compound where they extort money from them, while waving smoking commercial vehicles without lights and side mirrors to continue.
I appeal to Mr Biu to save motorists from this nightmare by his officers who are bent on rubbishing his good work and the image of FRSC.
