The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has said there was no cause for alarm ahead of the rerun polls in some states on February 3, 2024.

NNPP acting National Chairman, Abba Kabir Yusuf, at a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, hinted that names of the party’s candidates have been uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Let me inform the public that NNPP is fully prepared to take part in Saturday, February 3, 2024 Re-run and bye -elections in about 26 States of the Federation.

“INEC has published the names of our Candidates. We have also uploaded the particulars of our polling agents. We are therefore calling on Nigerians to cooperate with INEC to deliver a credible poll on Saturday.

“In the same vein, as you are all aware, INEC has fixed off-cycle elections for Edo and Ondo States to hold later in the year.”

Yusuf, also, said the party had commenced the sale of forms for Edo State, adding that “primaries will hold on February 23rd to pick our Candidate.”

According to him, “the sale of forms for Ondo will commence in April. At our end here we are very busy with the administration of the Party and we will never be distracted by this group of renegade political hooligans.”

He, also, warned those who were expelled from parading themselves as authentic members of the party, saying that the party would not hesitate to drag them to court.

He said: “These people were expelled from the Party in line with its Constitution. Not only that, there is a Restraining Order of Court of competent jurisdiction stopping them from parading themselves as leaders of this Party.

“They neither challenged this Order nor tried in any way to vacate it. As we are here today, the Order subsists.

“Flowing from above, all the activities of this renegade group amount to a contempt of court, which the laws of our great country seriously frown at.

“This Court Order was not only served on them, but media houses were also copied.

“However, it is very unfortunate that some media houses, unknowingly, apart from abetting these people, continue to flout the Orders of the Honourable Court. We wish to use this medium to appeal to our friends in the media to avoid being dragged by these characters into flouting a valid Court Order.”
