From Oluseye Ojo, Ibadan
Medical doctor turned businessman, Dr. Abib Olamitoye, has said journalists can move from any position they find themselves to the peak and achieve the best version of their lives.
Olamitoye, a prolific writer, author and motivational speaker, urged journalists to be reading relevant books, as he donated 60 books on how to build, and manage businesses, as well as how to communicate in business, save money and strategies on how to run business profitably in one’s absence.
He stated this, yesterday, in his remarks during the commissioning of a hall, christened Abib Olamitoye Centre, which he donated to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council. The former President, Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association (ICOMAA) Worldwide also used the occasion to celebrate his 66th birthday.
Olamitoye, the Chairman/Founder, Ibadan Central Hospital (ICH) and Academy Suites, who is based in the United Kingdom, said it was imperative for journalists to invest in self-development, saying that it is a major factor to success and fulfilment in life.
He said that it was difficult to get rich, but easier to get richer when you are rich. He further advised that any stratum of life that journalists want to invest, they should learn from the mistakes of others who had gone ahead in that line, so that they could accelerate their progress and success.
“The path to follow is the renewal of mind everyday. Once the vision of where you want to go has been established, it can be achieved. I encourage you all to engage in self-development as it is the best.”
NUJ Chairman in the state, Ademola Babalola, described the Ondo State-born philanthropist as a man of many parts, who had continuously been building people.
“Our benefactor is not from Oyo State, but he is committed to the growth and development of this state. Dr. Abib Olamitoye is a man that is so passionate about humanity; a man of timber and calibre, a man God has been using for this generation, a man of many parts, a teacher, a trainer, an author and wonderful personality.”
