Prolific Nigerian author and former permanent secretary, Presidency, Dr. Bukar Usman, will be the Guest Speaker at the 2025 Bura Day Celebration on April 12, 2025, at AGNL Park, Gudu District, Abuja, organised by BUWDA (Bura Women Development Association, Nigeria).
Among the highlights of the Bura Day Celebration are the launching of a microfinance bank and the renovation and furnishing of the guest house at the Skill Acquisition Centre, Marama, in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.
The event will be chaired by Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd), former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic. The Special Guest of Honour is Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum, the Governor of Borno State; while the Guest of Honour is Gen. P.C. Tarfa (retd).
Other dignitaries include Dr. Bukar Usman (Guest Speaker), Chief Michael G. Tarfa (Tafidan Garkida/ Father of the Day), Eng. Anjili Mshelbwala (Chief Launcher for Renovation and Furnishing of Guest House at the Skill Acquisition Centre, Marama) and Prof Dili Dogo Mshelia, Vice Chancellor, Nile University (Chief Launcher for Microfinance Bank). All the BOT members of BUWDA serve collectively as the Chief Host.
Bura is the major ethnic group in Biu Emirate, which is the second largest emirate in Borno State, located in southern part of the state.
