Frontline Nigerian folklorist, historian, author and public intellectual of dozens of books. Dr. Bukar Usman, has been admitted into the Nigerian Academy of Letters as an Honorary Fellow (Hon. FNAL). In a letter signed by its president, Professor Sola Akinrinade. NAL said, sequel to its meeting of July 4, 2024, the academy had approved his nomination as a Fellow.
“The Honorary Fellowship is the highest honour that the Academy bestows on deserving non-members who have made significant contributions to the development of the Arts and Humanities generally in the country. Past and Present Honorary Fellows of the Academy include the late Gamaliel Onosode, HRH Alhaji Umaru Sanda Ndayako, the late Etsu Nupe, Emir of Bida; HRM Omo n’ Oba Erediauwa, late Oba of Benin; Late Mallam Adamu Ciroma, Chief Emeka Anyoku, former Commonwealth Secretary-General, and Most Rev. Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah. We are glad you will be joining this company of great Nigerians,” said NAL.
Dr. Usman’s investiture as a Fellow will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the J.F. Ade-Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos. The former permanent secretary in the presidency, in a letter made available to Daily Sun. has accepted the honour and declared his interest to attend the investiture.
