President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) roundly defeated his main contender, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the polling unit of the leader of APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.
In the early result that filtered in from unit 05, ward 08 in Enwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area where Emerhor earlier voted around 11:am, APC polled 278 votes to beat PDP with 13 votes.
Speaking earlier after voting, Emerhor who was the governorship candidate of the party in 2015, expressed confidence that Buhari would win in Ughelli North and other part of the state.
“Everybody is excited because we have the opportunity now, to elect the president and National Assembly members of our choice.
“Based on some logistics relating to transportation, they started late, but I think they will extend the time, so that everybody can vote, I’m also a bit concerned about the time allocated to each person to vote; I hope the machine will pick up so it would be faster,
“I encourage my unit, ward and local government and the state at large to be patient because this is important and will also give directions to the country,” he said.
