President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, in Lagos, commissioned two newly acquired warships by the Nigerian Navy.
The two vessels, NNS KADA and NNS Ibeno, were recently built by the Daiman Guangzhou ship yards both in United Arab Emirate and China respectively.
President Buhari commissioned the vessel which were anchored within the Lagos Lagoon, staying onboard NNS Sokoto, another Naval patrol craft.
The president also commissioned an Agusta helicopter for the force, to enable it patrol and carry our surveillance duties.
The commissioning was followed by a fleet review of 13 Nigerian Navy vessels and three warships from Brazil, Italy and Ghana.
Other participating countries that were around for the fleet review include Angola, United States, United Kingdom,
China, Sierra Leone, Liberia, DRC, South Africa and Senegal.
The Presidential Fleet Review is an event where the whole of the Navy fleet is assembled to be reviewed by the president and commander-in-chief. It often includes ships and delegates from other friendly navies.
In Nigeria, presidential fleet review dates back to 1981 when the late president Shehu Shagari reviewed the NN ships and presented new colours to the Navy.
