A leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, Hyacinth Enuha, on Thursday declared that the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in last Saturday’s election was as a result of the collective effort of Nigerians.

Enuha in a congratulatory message to the President-elect and his Vice, said no elite or single individual can lay claim to having installed Mr. Buhari, saying that the victory of the APC in the presidential poll has re-written the political history of the country.

The congratulatory message, which was signed by his media aide, Nnamdi Ofonye, commended the President for standing his ground “by not handing over his fate to a few self acclaimed godfathers whose stock in trade is always to blackmail all sitting Presidents and candidate seeking election and re-election into unholy agreements at the detriments of the Nigerian state and its citizens.”

He called on the President to hit the ground running and ensure that all his promises, programmes “especially those that will uplift the economy and living standards of the common man are kick started immediately having laid the very solid foundations in his first four years in office.

“President Buhari has laid the foundation. So we expect that going forward, Nigerians are already expecting a new lease of life under him and that is the real reason they gave him their mandate despite the high level of sabotage, hate, smear campaigns, intimidation and blackmail.”

Enuha the President to carefully take stock of his first tenure with a view to overhauling all gray areas where he might have not succeeded and correcting them for the immediate benefits of all Nigerians.

The elder statesman seized the opportunity to appeal to the main opposition party candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to be a good sportsman by accepting defeat and supporting the government in moving the nation forward.

“The time for politics has come and gone. This is the time for governance and the President needs the unalloyed support of all Nigerians in moving this great nation to its rightful place among the comity of other nations,” he stated.
