There is a heavy presence of security personnel in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as President Muhammadu Buhari is billed to hit the southwestern state today for a campaign rally.
Abeokuta’s MKO Abiola International Stadium, the venue of the campaign, is being manned by security personnel, comprising military, police, DSS and NSCDC officials, scrutinising people before gaining entrance into the venue.
Though President Buhari and his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, are expected in the state by 2pm, the the stadium is almost filled to capacity.
APC party faithful, supporters, social and political groups, dressed in colourful outfits, are seated, chanting and dancing to pro-Buhari songs.
Meanwhile, the venue of the event is emblazoned with posters and banners with pictures of Buhari, Osinbajo and Governor Amosun, while that of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Dapo Abiodun, is conspicuously missing.
The governor was at the venue supervising and putting finishing touches to the rally arrangement ahead of the arrival of the president and his deputy.
The crowd is being entertained by array of artistes, led by Juju music legend Ebenezer Obey.
