Chukwuebuka Emmanuel Amuzie, a social media content creator, popularly known as Brain Jotter, has emerged winner in the Overall Best Social Media Content Creator category in the 2024 edition of the Social Media Awards (SMAs) held in Lagos recently.
Brain Jotter, whose works hold social media enthusiasts spellbound, was adjudged the overall best content creator in the Nigerian social media space in 2024 by the meticulous and erudite SMA judges.
Other nominees who emerged winners in their various categories include Maryam Apaokagi, aka, Taaooma, who won the Instagram Content Creator of the Year; Mark Angel, who clinched the Best Facebook Content Creator of the Year award; Tacha, who emerged the Social Media Influencer of the Year; and Ruth Kadiri, who won the Best Youtube Content Creator of the Year.
In the brand category, Arise TV clinched the Most Engaging TV Station on Social Media award while Wazobia FM (95.1 FM) emerged winner of the Most Engaging Radio Station on Social Media.
Earlier in his opening speech, the convener of the awards and Chief Executive Officer of Alternative Adverts Ltd., Mr. Emmanuel Nwafor, expressed gratitude to God as well as other partners, including Gordon’s Gin and Tonic, Don Royal, Indomie, Cway, PalmPay, and the mainstream media, for their unwavering support, commitment and belief in the SMA vision.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “The Spotlight”, Nwafor said the SMA is shining the spotlight on exceptional individuals and brands that have captivated and inspired their audiences with their creativity and passion.
He said, “tonight, we came together to celebrate excellence, innovation and impact within the digital space. Your presence here is a testament to the power and significance of social media in shaping our world today.
“This year’s event is truly special as we continue to grow and evolve. Beyond celebrating tonight’s achievements, we’ve embarked on impactful initiatives that extend our reach beyond this stage.”
According to him, “this year, we had the honour of organising charity drives and visiting hospitals where we offset bills and spread hope, compassion and care to those who need it most. It has been a humbling experience and a reminder that social media’s influence goes beyond the screen – it can make a difference in real lives and real communities.”
Nwafor noted that new categories have been added to the awards, which are aimed at celebrating more creators and influencers who are making waves across various platforms, adding that, “these unveilings represent the evolving landscape of social media and our commitment to recognising and empowering those who are shaping the future of digital media in Nigeria.”
Emphasising the impact of social media in people’s day to day operations, the SMA convener said “it is a force that connects, uplifts and empowers. Together, we can continue to push boundaries, inspire change and shape the digital landscape in ways that positively impact our society.”
Also speaking on the sidelines of the event, the co-convener of the awards, Dr. Maxwell Nzekwe, stated that overall there are 37 categories this year with additional none votable award which include philanthropists. This, he said, is to spice up the awards.
On the impact of the awards on the winners, Nzekwe explained that it has been enormous, saying it “has shaped the way these content creators are using social media to promote their content.”
Other winners are Charles Okocha- Phenomenal – Viral Slang Maker of the Year; Queen May – Brand Ambassador of the Year; Khloes gram – Best TikTok Content Creator of the Year; Hauwa – Best Twitter Content Creator of the Year; Pharmsavi – Best Health Influencer of the Year; Enioluwa – Fashion Influencer of the Year; Ozeba – Rema – Viral Song of the Year; Samuel Banks – Breaking out Content Creator of the Year; Young John-Stronger Directed by Perliks – Best Music Video of the Year on YouTube; Palmpay – Best Use of Social Media – Fintech; Indomie – Most Responsive FMCG Brand on Social Media; and Asherkine – Philanthropist of the Year.
