From Felix Ikem, Nsukka
The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Nkpokote Nsukka Development Forum (NNDF), Prof. Douglas Nwagbo, has charged the pioneer executive members of the forum to liaise with government and security agents to reduce insecurity in the zone, especially as it concerns kidnapping and herdsmen attacks in some parts of the area.
NNDF is a socio-cultural organisation in the Nsukka cultural zone of Enugu State that draws its members from the seven local government areas that make up the zone, namely; Nsukka, Igboeze-South, Igboeze-North, Udenu, Igbo-Etiti, Uzo-Uwani and Isi-Uzo.
Nwagbo gave the charge in Nsukka yesterday during the inauguration of the new Executives of NNDF, held at Sports Club Hall, Nsukka Local Government Area.
According to him, there was an urgent need for the new executive members of the forum to reach out and collaborate with the state government and the security agents to tackle the incessant cases of kidnapping incidents and herdsmen attacks in the zone.
“I charge the pioneer executive members of NNDF led by Chief Bartholomew Ugwoke to first tackle the issue of insecurity in the zone by working in synergy with the state government and all relevant security agencies to address the menace.
“The level of insecurity in the zone, especially as it concerns kidnapping and herdsmen attack in some communities and destruction of farmlands is unacceptable and something urgent should be done before the situation gets out of hand.
“I am optimistic that the executives of NNDF, comprising who is who in Nsukka cultural zone, will liaise with the relevant security agencies to address this issue,” he said.
The BoT chairman congratulated the executive members on their victory during the elections and assured them that the BOT members would continue to work with them to move the forum to the next level.
