Commissioner of Police, Borno State, Mohammed Lawal Yusuf, has charged officers to be vigilant and chase out criminals after arresting 17 suspected hoodlums in their various scenes of crime.

He said: “These ember months, the command will confront crime and criminality. I have redeployed officers to all the flashpoints to checkmate the hoodlums. There has being constant raiding of the hideouts of criminals in the forests.

“I have warned officers and men to shun corruption. They should imbibe community policing. The command will involve human rights activists in the fight against hoodlums. The command remains resolute, focused and dedicated to ensure preservation of law and order.

“The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun,  has warned officers to be disciplined, professional and respect the fundamental rights of members of the public. Officers should conduct themselves with decorum and alertness.

“Police operatives arrested some suspected armed robbers in Maiduguri and other places. The command has deployed ample operational resources and implemented various intelligence strategies to pre-empt any potential threats to public safety. There has been 48 hours surveillance patrol to ensure the safety of citizens and protect their lives and properties.

“I have directed my Area Commanders, Divisional police Officers and tactical commanders to increase visibility patrols and secure highways in the state.”
