Commissioner of Police (CP) Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent has assumed duty at the Benue State Police Command, as announced in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Catherine Anene, on April 27.

A native of Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, CP Emenari brings over three decades of policing experience to his new role.

Emenari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos and a Master’s degree and PhD in Literature in English from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Enlisted in the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992, he has served in operational, investigative, and administrative roles across Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Calabar, Osun, Ogun, Abia, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As a Mobile Police officer, Emenari was Unit Commander at 27 PMF Katsina (1996–1999), 29 PMF Awka (1999–2002), and 11 PMF Calabar (2002–2003). Internationally, he served as Contingent Commander for the Nigeria Police in the UN Mission in Sudan, Operations Officer in Khartoum, and Deputy Security Advisor in South Sudan (2012).

His leadership roles include Commandant of the Police College of Information Technology, Abeokuta, and Area Commander, Akwete Area Command, Abia State.

Emenari’s training includes the Unit Combat Course, Armoured Personnel Carrier Course at PMF Training School, Gwoza, and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the National Institute of Police Studies, Abuja (2020). Before Benue, he was Commissioner of Police, Force Provost Marshal.

CP Emenari pledged to strengthen community policing, enhance security, and deploy resources to combat insecurity in Benue, prioritising the protection of lives and property.
