Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia has spoken about the modus operandi of the terrorists and bandits behind the mass killings in the state, saying they employ guerrilla tactics.

Alia, who appeared on Focus Nigeria, a programme on African Independent Television (AIT), on Tuesday, stated that the situation in Benue has become more challenging.

He disclosed that the insurgents now hit their targets and retreat afterwards.

“We’re talking about the bandits and the terrorists who have come to a very mystifying frame of guerrilla warfare. They come, hit, and go back. So we cannot identify them,” Alia said.

Alia added that more work to thwart the terrorists would be done with the support of the federal government.

“With the federal government’s continued support now through intelligence finding and searching, I think, we are going to do even some more.

“We will identify those people, apprehend them, and create a new narrative for our three local governments and, in fact, the state.”
