Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit, Milverton, Ikoyi, Lagos State, Godwin Ayotunde Omodeinde, has charged officers to flush criminals out of their hideouts. He said: “I have lectured my officers to apply professionalism and work according to the rule and regulation of the Police Act.
“We have to be proactive and vigilant at all times. Also, we have to enhance accountability, improve supervision of personnel and explore innovative approaches to bolster security of the state.
“The command arrested criminals involved in fraudulent practices and scams. We are tackling cybercrime and protecting cyberspace in Nigeria and beyond. We have enhanced our operational capacity and instilled discipline in the fight against corruption.
“We have embarked on strategic leadership goal of deepening the intellectual capacity and knowledge of detectives by exposing them to modern criminal investigation tools, and extant criminal laws and procedures.
“This initiative is projected to situate their functions within acceptable legal bounds, professional standard, ethical requirement and global best practices for delivering criminal justice in a country with diverse rules of law-guided and democratic as Nigeria.
“We will continue to strengthen community policing and remain resolute in the fight against all forms of criminality.”
The CP advised members of the public to be wary of impostors, fraudsters and scammers and report suspicious transactions.
