A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has implored Nigerians and relevant stakeholders to be positive-minded and always strive to ensure that the country works to become one of the best in the world.
This, Babayemi posited, could only be possible if the people of the country believe that nation was a project that should not fail, adding that it equally required pragmatic steps and the support of those at the helm of affairs.
He stated these in his Democracy Day message issued by his Media Office and made available to newsmen on Monday.
“Without doubt, democracy allows for the diverse latitude of expressions. This makes a nation and its people collocate for the common good,” he said.
The former governorship aspirant in the state on the platform of PDP, said; “In Nigeria, we are revving towards that progressive trajectory, especially with our democratic experience maturing by the day. Yes, if our democratic threshold was shaky, we are today far better than where we were coming from.
Babayemi opined that the 2023 general elections which led to the emergence of different elected leaders across the country were evidence that the nation was already coming of age.
“Our last elections which have put in place a new set of leaders at all levels of governance in the country, spell this. It might not have been a perfect process, but gradually we are getting there.”
He then pleaded that Nigerians must be positive-minded about the country, stressing, “As we mark another Democracy Day, we must all strive to make Nigeria work! We don’t have any other place we can call our own. Let’s support the government of the day with everything in us and continue to be law-abiding,” he added.
