Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is in the market for a holding midfielder in the January transfer window after a proposed move for Fulham star João Palhinha fell through on deadline day despite the player completing a medical in Germany.
Bayern Munich received bad news on Thursday as Palhinha extended his contract with Fulham until June 2028 with the option for a further year.
According to information from Fussballtransfers, the four candidates being considered as an alternative to Palhinha for the number 6 role are Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangaré, Manchester United’s Scott McTominay and Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Earlier reports indicated that Ndidi would like to work with former Chelsea coach Tuchel and is open to a move to Bayern Munich.
The German champions were hot on the trail of the Nigeria international in the summer transfer window but prioritized the signing of Palhinha over any other defensive midfielder.
Ndidi has started the season on fire with five goal involvements (3 goals, 2 assists) in nine appearances combined for club and country.
