Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not afraid of opposition going into the November 11 2023 election.

Diri who emerged the PDP standard-bearer in the primary election supervised by Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke speaking in an interview monitored on the Television Station said his administration has performed to deserve a second term.

Listing infrastructure, education, health agriculture, sports, skills acquisition and human capacity development as sectors where the state has made appreciable progress, he said those whose only preoccupation is to grab power would not appreciate the developments in the state.

Diri explained that his administration has turned the PDP into a formidable force that can confront the opposition.

“Those who are power hungry will always come from the viewpoint of attack. Like I said, there are some who have eyes but cannot see.

“We are ready for whoever will emerge from the primaries of other parties. But like I said, we can no longer depend on violence to clinch power. Power comes from God.

“Let me assure you that our party is far more united than what we had previously. The PDP won convincingly in the just concluded elections. Out of three senatorial seats PDP won the three including the one of a serving senator, Bayelsa East. In the Federal Constituencies election, out of the four declared, PDP won four including that of a serving House of Representatives member, Nembe/ Brass. The fifth one is set for rerun this Saturday and PDP is going to win. In the House of Assembly, PDP has a clear two/thirds majority. So, it shows that we( PDP) are on ground.
