The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two vigilantes for the alleged rape of a housewife at gunpoint in Dogon-Ruwa village, Ningi local government area.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Tuesday.
Wakil, a Superintendent of Police (SP), disclosed that police detectives attached to Ningi Division arrest the suspects after receiving a distress call.
He said the two suspects, Lawali Sule,30, and Babangida Shehu,30, would be charged in court with criminal conspiracy and rape.
The two suspects allegedly carried out the criminal act on August 25 at about 2:00 am, the statement disclosed.
“The two suspects conspired among themselves and stormed the house of one Alhaji Gare, all armed with Dane-guns,” it said.
“They broke into his wife’s room one Hadiza Alhaji (not real name) and asked her husband’s whereabouts, but he was not at home.
“Thereafter they threatened her with a gun with the view to have canal knowledge of her and she succumbed out of fear.

“A discreet investigation commenced in earnest The victim was evacuated to the General hospital Ningi for medical examination and confirmed the penetration.
“During the investigation, the suspects voluntary confessed to the crime.
“The exhibits recovered from the suspects were two Dane guns”
The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police has directed that the suspects be charged to court.
In a related development, Wakil said police of the command have arrested a man aged 27 who allegedly raped a three-year-old girl.
He said the incident occured on August 24 at about 11:00 am when the suspect, Mato Yohanna of Jimbin village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area was arrested by the detectives after he allegedly had canal knowledge with a three-year-old girl (names withheld)
“During the investigation, the suspect confessed to having raped minors for the second time,” Wakil said.
“Equally, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.”
