The Bayelsa State Police Command is investigating the circumstances leading to the kidnapping of Mrs Nneka Enuka UgoAnochie, manager with a new generation bank.
Findings indicated that she was abducted on Friday along the Sanni Abacha Expressway by PDP junction.
Her abduction was said to have jolted several residents of Yenagoa because of the multiple stop and search and Police patrol around Yenagoa metropolis.
Sources disclosed that after the celebrity kidnapper, John Ewa was arrested, Mrs UgoAnochie was prevailed to relocate from her residence which was adjacent to Ewa’s residence but she refused opting for increased security instead.
However, her security arrangement was recently downgraded owing to rising logistics and sources close to her believed this was what gave the kidnappers the opportunity to strike.
“We warned her to relocate after the arrest of Ewa and some of his gang members because our intelligence report indicated that she was being monitored. Operation Puff Adder and the Anti- kidnapping squad of the State Police Command was providing security to her residence but it stopped when she complained of logistics cost.”
Police sources said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Romokere Ibani has ordered a manhunt for the kidnappers and has directed that security be beefed up around Yenagoa metropolis.
