Bandits operating in the city of Aba, Abia State, have beheaded an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), along East Street, Ndiegoro axis.
This is even as the bandits were reported to have threatened to sack residents of the area.
Reports had it that the ASP, popularly known as “Agbalagba” and hailed from Ebonyi State, was gruesomely murdered and his head cut off by the bandits on Tuesday morning, at about 5 am.
The bandits were said to have made away with the officer’s gun and uniform.
Residents linked the killing of the ASP to a notorious criminal group whose leader was killed during a gun duel with the police on April 23.
The leader of the gang said to go by the name JT, met his Waterloo when he was shot dead inside the Aba River by the police during exchange of fire.
The killing of the police man was said to have put fear into residents of the area.
