As terrorists continue to bloody attacks on various communities across Katsina State, Governor Dikko Radda has urged the Federal Government to order the deployment of more security forces to the area.

Radda made the plea after an assessment visit to the Wurma community of Birchi in Kurfi Local Government Area where terrorists killed several residents and abducted a number of others during a recent attack.

The area is about 30 kilometres from Katsina, the capital and surviving residents protested the incessant attacks on them by bandits.

“Governor Dikko Umar Radda visited the grieving residents, expressing his deepest sympathy for the victims of the attack, the Governor’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, said in a press statement on Friday.

According to the statement, “while sympathizing with the people, he called on Wurma community to nominate 10 people to meet him in Katsina so that he will know how to cushion their challenges particularly as Ramadan approaches.

“Your protest is genuine and I feel for you but please remain calm as Government is doing all it can to stop these attacks.

“Words cannot express the profound grief I feel for the families who have lost loved ones in this senseless act of violence.

“My heart aches for the children who have lost their parents and the community that has been so deeply affected.

“I stand with you in this time of unimaginable pain and hardship.”

The Governor urged the community to support the security forces including the state’s Community Watch Corps in tackling the menace of banditry.

“Governor Radda further said that government would mobilize 100 security personnel to Wurma and will feed them on a daily basis.

“The fight against banditry remains a complex undertaking but this collective approach signifies a shared determination to overcome adversity and build a safer future for the people of Katsina state.

“Governor Radda called on the Federal Government to assist the state in fighting banditry by sending reinforcement of security forces,” the statement said.
