Saturday December 7 was indeed a great day for Chief Femi Afolayan, Chief Amadi Peter Ndubisi, Chief Mahrouf Ajibade and Chief Arinze Nwaigbo, all of Candid Estate in Eteko Araromi Ale Olorunda LCDA, Lagos State as they were honoured by Baale of Eteko Araromi Ale, Chief Israel Talabayin who celebrated his one year on throne as the traditional ruler of Eteko and Candid Estate CDA.
The two day event began on Wednesday with a novelty football match between the CDAs in Eteko. This was followed by Islamic prayers on Friday.
On Saturday, people from all walks of life converged at the palace of Baale Eteko Araromi Ale, where Chief Talabayin presented certificates to the new chiefs.
On why the awardees were honoured, Baale Eteko said it was because of their contribution to the community development that earned them the honour.
Furthermore, Chief Talabayin clarified that the honorary chiefs would be part of the Baale in-council who would assist him in governing the community.
In his response, Chief Afolayan who bagged the title of Mayegun1 of Eteko Candid said it is a welcome development thanked the Baale and people of Candid Estate for their support adding that he would continue to do his best in service to humanity.
on his own part, Chief Amadi who was honoured as Asiwaju Ndigbo in Eteko, said it is a welcome development and evidence of unity in the community.
Chief Ajibade, who bagged Mayegun 2 of Candid Eteko land, thanked Chief Talabayin for finding him worthy of the appointment.
For Chief Arinze Nwaigbo, the honour will encourage him to do more in service to humanity.
Chairman of Candid Estate, Mr Lawal Aremu, thanked Allah for a successful anniversary, adding that the CDA will continue to do its best in promoting good governance in Olorunda LCDA.
The event reached its climax on Sunday 8 with a grand reception with a lifeband that entertained the guests.
