Axia Africa, an Ed-tech organization championing digital inclusion, has launched an ambitious initiative to provide 5,000 African women with scholarships in technology.
The Women in Tech Scholarship aims to equip women with industry-relevant digital skills, bridging the gender gap in Africa’s rapidly growing tech sector.
The program offers training in Data Science, Cybersecurity, Product Management, Backend Development, Frontend Development, and Product Design, these are fields in high demand across the tech industry globally. Successful applicants will receive expert mentorship, career guidance, hands-on training, and an internship to prepare them for the competitive tech ecosystem.
Speaking on the initiative, Axia Africa founder Olawale Samuel, emphasised the importance of gender inclusivity in the tech sector, stating: “We believe that women have a crucial role to play in shaping Africa’s digital future. This scholarship is designed to break barriers, empower women, and create opportunities that will have a lasting impact on individuals, businesses, and the economy at large.”
Africa’s digital transformation is accelerating, yet women remain underrepresented in the tech workforce. Reports indicate that women occupy less than 30% of tech roles in Africa, highlighting the urgent need for targeted programs that encourage and support female participation in the sector.
Applications for the Women in Tech Scholarship are currently open, with a deadline set for March 9th. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply via Axia Africa’s official platform.
