House of Representatives member for Enugu North/Enugu South Federal Constituency, Chimaobi Atu has asked Nigerians to embrace production to tackle the current hunger ravaging the country.

 

He urged the citizens to remain steadfast in their productive endeavours noting that there was no gain hiding of the fact that there is serious hunger and food shortage in Nigeria.

 

He spoke while distributing Easter food palliatives to constituents that included, the youth, women groups, different Muslim communities, market traders, vulnerable groups, the physically challenged and many more.

The legislator who distributed over 5000 bags of rice at his constituency office and various markets in Enugu metropolis told the crowd that politics was over and they were now in governance, so, they would not be discriminatory in sharing the item.

 

“We all know that things are not the way it should be; there is serious hunger in the country. So how do we do it?  That is why we are giving palliative as our own little assistance hoping that one day a new Nigeria will emerge when we could have abundance of food, when we will have security, social amenities, scholarships,” Atu said.

 

According to his, his allocation of the palliatives goes beyond political party affiliation to benefit any resident or member of the constituency.

 

“This palliative is meant for the people of Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, whether you are a Labour Party, PDP, APC, NNDP, SDP member, whatever political party. It’s about Enugu North and South Federal Constituency. We’re in governance and it’s not a party affair and that is what the palliative is meant for.”
