From Fred Ezeh, Abuja
Factional leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Aruna Kadiri on Tuesday led handful of students to disrupt peaceful activities in the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja to demand immediate action to end perennial industrial action in the University system.
The students said they won’t continue to watch the University lecturers under the umbrella of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Federal Government play with their academic destinies.
They are unhappy that students are always at the receiving end of all academic disruptions in schools, forcing them to spend extra years in school.
The Factional NANS President announced the decision of the students to give two weeks grace to both parties to resolve their differences and reopened the classrooms or face unpalatable action from the students at the end of the grace period.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Sunny Echono, who received the protest letter from the student leaders assured them that the two weeks grace would not meet the schools shut, as all parties are working assiduously to end the incessant academic disruption in Universities.
