There is always a price to pay for fame. The celebrity status of Nollywood actress, Ijeoma Thomas has deprived her of certain freedom and privacy.

She lamented to Saturday Sun: “Fame has deprived me of lots of freedom. I’m this kind of person that likes to move freely. I also love to eat in the street as a Lagos girl because I grew up in Lagos. I usually buy what I like and do my things without someone knowing who I am. But now it’s different. I am confined to that celebrity status and can’t live my regular lifestyle. The whole world might not know me, but I am popular and contented with what I have.”

Recalling how her parents discovered she’s into acting, the Imo State indigene disclosed that series of family issues trailed her career choice.

“I didn’t tell my parents that I had joined the movie industry. I hid that part of me from them because I knew they wouldn’t support it. But one day, they were watching TV and saw me; they had to rewind and pause to be sure of what they had seen. They were like, ‘is this not our daughter?’ Everyone started calling to know what I was doing in Enugu. In fact, it wasn’t easy for me that period because my family deprived me of many things. But what matters is my happiness, as I am enjoying the job; it pays my bills,” the actress stated.
