Armed robbers have attacked the Rhythm 94.7 FM, Ox- Bow Lake Yenagoa carting away valuables belonging to staff.
Investigations revealed that the robbers first attacked the station on Saturday, May 17, at about 2.10 pm and came back for another operation on Sunday, May 18, at about 4.40 pm.
The robbers made away with mobile phones, recorders, and operational gadgets belonging to staff on duty.
The incident, which happened in broad daylight, has left many of the staff traumatised.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bayelsa State Council, has condemned in its entirety the armed robbery attack.
A statement on behalf of the union signed by the Chairman, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha and the Secretary of the Council, Stanley Imgbi stated that the attack is a rape on the entire media family in Bayelsa State and an attack on press freedom.
The state council implored all the state security apparatus, especially the Commissioner of Police to fish out perpetrators and bring them to book.
It urged the Police to ensure a patrol van is stationed around the media house because of its isolated location and other strategic locations in Yenagoa.
