The Court of Appeal in Calabar, Cross River State yesterday, upheld the conviction of Peter Ogban, for electoral fraud.
Ogban,a professor,was convicted in 2021, by the State High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state for electoral fraud.
He unsuccessfully appealed his conviction at the Court of Appeal, Calabar Division.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), prosecuted him on three counts of announcing false election results, publishing same and perjury during the 2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom state.
Justice Augustine Odokwo described the case as novel and said the prosecution was able to prove its case beyond any reasonable doubt.
