Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin-Kebbi and Emmanuel Adeyemi, Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Umoru Sambawa,  as the winner of Maiyama state House of Assembly election in Kebbi State.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Dr. Zuni Aminu of Federal University, Birinin Kebbi, who announced the results, said Umoru of polled 40,180 votes, while Alhaji Balarabe Hassan of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 1,420 votes.

She further said Alhaji Abdul of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled 23 votes, while Alhaji Tonko Jamilu of JNPP scored four votes.

Meanwhile, in Kogi, the APC won the 21 out of the 25 constituency seats in the State House of Assembly, while election was declared inconclusive in two constituencies.

Speaking with Daily Sun, in Lokoja, the Head of Voter Education, Alhaji Biambo Bagudu, said election was ongoing in Mopamuro local government area of the state as at the time of filling this report.

With the results, so far announced, the incumbent Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly,   Mathew Olushola Kolawole, leads six other members to retain their seats in the legislative House.
