Plateau State All Progressive Congress governorship candidate in the March 18 election, Nentawe Yilwatda has lauded the chief of Army staff Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, for setting up special operation to put an end to the killings in Mangu local government area of Plateau State.

He also commended and the Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for visiting the troubled spots.

Nentawe in a statement issued by his spokesman Shittu Bamaiyi, is full of praises and appreciation to the service chiefs for the seriousness with which they responded to the security concerns in the area.

According to him, the swift responses of the services high commands went a long way in instantly restoring normalcy in the area.

Nentawe noted that the physical presence of the service chiefs in Mangu, impacted heavily in allaying the fears of the people on further attacks by the bandits.

He remarked that their visits, apart from serving as a morale booster to the military and police personnel deployed to the area, the people now feel more protected and safe.

Nentawe expressed the hope that the military and police high commands as well as other security services would continue to respond swiftly to crisis situations not only in Plateau State but the country as a whole.

He also used the opportunity to commend the Senators and members of the National Assembly from Plateau State for drawing the attention of both chambers to the security challenges in Mangu.

Nentawe appealed to the people of the state irrespective of religious and political differences to give the state government all the required cooperation and support in fighting banditry and other forms of criminality not only in Mangu local government area, but the entire state.

He called on non- governmental organizations and public spirited individuals to come to the aid of the internally displaced persons at the camps in whatever form, as the state government alone cannot adequately provide for them.
