An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Livinus Okwara, has called on the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to adopt open and inclusive governance.

Okwara, who made the remark in Lagos, said this could be achieved by making contracts information public, working visits to states and local government areas, among other relationship binding moves.

He emphasised the need to make contracts open to the public through paper publications, leaflets and others, instead of limiting such opportunities to members of the National Assembly and Abuja residents. He noted that making contracts bidding public would increase government’s accountability, promote fairness, encourage civic oversight and help the government learn from previous successes and failures.

The APC chieftain, who appreciated how contracts were awarded and executed during Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos State, urged the president-elect to replicate same at the Federal level.

“The executive should publish the contracts on their boards, so that  indigenes and residents can take part in the execution, in supply and purchase. This was applicable in his tenure as governor of Lagos State,” he said.
