A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Simon Shango has called for stronger ties, peace and unity among leaders from Benue state for the overall development of the state.

The elder statesman made this call while speaking at the 5th anniversary of St. Williams Rectory Church, at Ijov Imenger in Tarka, Local Government Area, (LGA), of the state.

Shango who expressed gladness at the current cordiality and synergy between political actors and leaders of the party frowned at those bent on causing disunity and those sowing seeds of discord in the polity in the state in particular, saying such tendencies were capable of derailing the progress which all the political leaders are committed to.

The one time Sole Administrator of the Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation (BPPC ), publishers of The Voice Newspaper, who stated that development would be greatly enhanced in an atmosphere of peace and unity, sued for prayers and continued support for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume to enable him carry out the huge responsibilities bestowed on him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also appealed to the Benue people to synergize with the state Governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, to attract development to the state.

Chief Shango who said Benue state was lucky to have such an exalted position coming to their state also encouraged the people to make use of the high office for maximum political gain and democratic dividends.

He said the Benue people must support George Akume whom he said has given his life for the service of his country, his people and is ready to go to any length to ensure the peace, progress and prosperity of his state and the nation.

He also hailed the victory of Governor Alia at the Court of Appeal saying the mandate given by the good people of the state in the last election cannot be taken away as God had already sealed it.
