A group, under the aegis of the Aggrieved Councilors Association (ACA) of Anambra State has denied endorsing any political party’s candidate, including Dr. Stephen Obiora Mbah, who is contesting under the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for the November 18 Anambra gubernatorial election.

The association’s Director General, Mr. Chuks Anaje, made the clarification, at the weekend, while reacting to a media report that the ACA had adopted Dr. Mbah as its own candidate.

Anaje explained and confirmed that the PRP candidate attended one of its meetings in Awka South Local Government Area of the state where he assured the aggrieved councilors that he would make a difference in his administration, if elected the next Governor of Anambra State.

Anaje also said that Dr. Mbah promised to address the injustices meted to them in 2014 when they prepared for the councillorship elections under former Governor Peter Obi and Sir Victor Umeh as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) national chairman, but were allegedly denied the opportunity to complete the democratic process.

He said that Dr. Mbah, among other things, had promised to construct good roads that would be of international standard, prove steady electricity supply and pipe borne water for the people. Anaje maintained that upon the assurances of improved welfare made to them by Dr. Mbah, the group was yet to endorse any candidate for the coveted seat of Anambra State governor.

He noted that the ACA was the brain child and advocates of good governance searching for a medium or platform to bring about true democracy in which the welfare of Anambra people would be guaranteed.

“Formed immediately after January 11 2014 councillorship election in the state which our former Governor, Mr. Peter Obi and then APGA national chairman in the person of Chief Victor Umeh manipulated, selected their friend and relatives and put them in office as councilors and local Government Chairmen making other political parties that contested to look like fools.”
