• Anambra must be connected to centre –Ganduje
From Aloysius Attah and Emmanuel Uzor, Awka
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has given assurance that the party will win the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State to pave way for the state to be fully connected to the centre.
Speaking in Awka yesterday during a one-day working visit to the state and the commissioning of the state party secretariat donated by Chief Paul Chukwuma , the ruling party chairman said that Anambra as a critical part of Nigeria cannot continue to remain in the opposition even as he described the Igbo as the great people of Nigeria who can be found doing well across the 774 local government areas in the country.
He charged the party members and stakeholders, including governorship aspirants to remain focused and united towards achieving the goal, noting that the APC as a party has under President Bola Tinubu administration fostered national reconciliation, unity in diversity and development while winning the November 8 poll would connect Anambra to the centre for speedy development.
Also speaking, the National Secretary of APC, Ajibola Basiru said that the party has issued a yellow card to Governor Soludo and would complete the process with a red card on November 8 during the governorship poll.
Earlier, the Chairman of APC in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike in an address said that the party in the state has articulated a blueprint which serves as a tool and guide towards the Anambra 2025 project, adding that the party through their efforts and activities has become the beautiful bride and the most sought-after platform as every known political heavyweight in Anambra today belongs to the APC family.
On the challenges facing the party, Chief Ejidike lamented that the issue of appointments made by the Federal Government without recourse to the party has been inimical to the growth and success of the party in the state.
He said the trend has not in any way served as a source of inspiration or motivation to the party members, but threatening the strength and enthusiasm of emerging victorious in the Anambra 2025 project.
“More worrisome is the fact that what we as a state get from the Federal Government as incentives and palliatives are usually sent through the state government. Sequel to the above, non-APGA members are denied access to them. It is on record that bags of rice sent as palliatives by the Federal Government were repackaged and Soludo’s pictures and APGA logo embossed on those bags thereby giving the impression that they were provided by the governor,” Chief Ejidike lamented.
Donor of the APC Anambra office and governorship aspirant, Chief Paul Chukwuma in a remark noted that people like him who have kept faith with the party over the years have built the party to an enviable height that has now made it very attractive for new entrants now joining the party in droves.
He thanked Ganduje for coming with the entire party paraphernalia to Anambra and for walking the talk in his commitment towards repositioning the party and the members in the Southeast.
“Today is a symbol of victory for the APC in Anambra in the upcoming governorship poll. The new entrants to the party are fully welcome, but their entrance should not suffocate those of us in the house before now. I can assure you Mr. National Chairman that with your support and the right things done, we shall defeat Soludo before 12 noon on election day,” Chukwuma boasted.
Other governorship aspirants who spoke during the visit included Chief Obiora Okonkwo, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Chief Chukwuma Umeorji and Chief John-Bosco Onunkwo.
