The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Idemili North House of Assembly in Anambra State, Chief Vincent Obi (Ezeudo Ogidi) has said that he will tackle erosion menace in the area if elected in 2023 general election.
He said that he want to contest for the House of Assembly due to people’s clamour for good and quality representation, which he said has been lacking over the years, saying that his achievement as a business man stood him out among other candidates.
Obi who spoke with Daily Sun said that he has been empowering the youths and elderly in his area through his foundation where he pays school fees for indigents, built houses for widows and poor in Idemili and beyond.
He said that hooliganism, cultism, thuggery and other social vices would be a thing of the past if elected into the state House of Assembly as he would engage the youths of the constituency meaningfully and positively in skills, trades and crafts to earn a living.
According to him, “Idemili has prominent and educated people like literary icon late Prof Chinua Achebe. Our place is not known for cultism, banditry, hooliganism and other vices but known for professionalism in various chosen areas. If I get to the House, I will create job for the youths. The youths are behind me in this race. I will not let the youths down when I get the seat. I will ensure that social vices will stop, because o will provide jobs for our youths.
“I love my constituency and they love me due to my achievements as an individual. So, they decided to call on me to run for House of Assembly to go and make laws and attract for more constituency projects. I’m not going to the House of Assembly to amass wealth because I am God has blessed me already but to bring development to my people.
“I have toured all the communities in Idemili North and I have identified their needs and promise that if am elected I will draw government attention to it and try and solve those problems bordering my communities.
In Uke community and other communities there are some places where gully erosion is devastating the roads and houses. So, if elected I will draw government attention to the menace and show how to solve the problem to save lives and property.
“I have Vin Obi Foundation and through that foundation we have help indigent students by paying their school fees. My community, Ogidi, I have provided rural electrification to areas that does not have electricity which cost the foundation millions of Naira. I have built a drainage system with four standard culverts, I built houses for the widows and poor who could not afford to build houses. So, I have been doing all these with my money by Gods grace who gave me the wealth. If I can use my money to do all these things, then I will do more if elected into the State Assembly.
“If my people will support me and I came out victorious in the election, as a lover of education, I will improve the standard of the education in my constituency and rehabilitate dilapidated schools with good facilities through my constituency project. I will provide water to areas that does not have water, just like I dug borehole in my place where everybody within the area came to fetch water free.
“I’m a grass root man, in place both those in APC, APGA, LP know me as grass root man and I know what my people need, so I need their support and I want all my people to come out en masse to vote for me and I will not renege on the trust reposed on me. I know that my people love me but I want them to come out en masse to demonstrate it through their massive votes. What we need is good representation and dividends of democracy which I will provide” Obi appealed.
