Member of the House of Representatives, representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency II, Lagos, Kayode Moshood Akiolu, has assured members of his constituency of improved standards of living in the New Year.

The lawmaker gave this assurance during the donation of laptops and commissioning of six new blocks of classrooms at the Girls Senior Academy and additional three blocks at St. Stephens School, both on the Lagos Island.

The gesture, he said, was part of his youth and women empowerment programme encompassing education, Information, and Communication Technology, urging the teachers and students to make judicious use of the newly built blocks of classrooms to enhance their learning capacity.

“I want Lagos Island in particular to be an ICT hub, not just a place to sell ICT equipment. We want to make this place to be a Silicon Valley and hub. I pray for the students that learn from the school,” he said.

Also speaking on the occasion, Oyebanji Samuel, who represented the Director-General of Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi, Dr. (Mrs) Jumai Adamu Funtua, commended the lawmaker for adding value to teaching and learning in his constituents.

While unveiling the projects, Akiolu said he decided to name the projects in honour of the former Ambassador to Span, the late Senator Demola Seriki, in recognition of his sterling qualities, describing him a political icon and a mentor whose legacies would continue to live on.
