Chief Executive Officer, Aerofield Homes and Trinity Gardens, Armstrong Akintunde, has called for collaborative efforts between the private sector and the government to further develop the education sector in the country.
Akintunde, who made this suggestion after his election as the President of the Christ Apostolic Grammar School Old Students Association, Iperu Remo, Ogun State, said that the private sector would need to synergize with the government to improve the delivery of qualitative education in the country.
He acknowledged that the government at all levels are working to improve the quality and standard in public schools, thus the need for private sector to support the government efforts given the country’s population and other competing needs.
Akintunde emphasized that the provision of a conducive learning environment for the citizenry required all the hands to be on the deck, hence, the imperative for the private-public collaboration.
“We all know that the government cannot do it alone, we must therefore as stakeholders and old students be ready to deploy our resources and influence to complement the efforts of the government in upscaling the infrastructural drive of the school while also supporting the students to excel in their studies”, he stressed.
Speaking on his election as the new president of the old students association, he remarked that the large turn out of the old students for the election confirmed the great love and respect they have for their amal mate.
Akintunde, however, noted that his leadership would not betray the confidence reposed in the capacity of the new executives to build on the legacy of supporting the growth of the secondary school.
He called for the cooperation and support of the old students to move the association forward, adding that no efforts will be spared to mobilise for the further development of the school.
The immediate past National Secretary of the Association, Gbolahan Osho who also doubles as the ex-officio 2 described the newly elected president as a man of service and integrity capable of leading the new executives to take the school to greater heights.
Osho expressed optimism that the Akintunde-led executive would impact positively on the activities of the old students association as well as on the school.
